Origami of a wolf wearing a sheeps coat.

My feet was killin’ me. Tikka, grinnin’, hit me with the nod. It was 7pm just as we got to Grove St.

We was frontin’ our nurse uniforms. Yeah, I admit. But if I gotta work them long hours, why not get some props, right?!

Crossin’ Bedford, people was all on they railin’s, in they windows, standin’ on balconies, all bangin’ pots and pans, whistlin’ and hollerin’.

A boy pointed to us, “Nurses!” and him and his neighbors got turnt. Tikka punched me in the shoulder and I laughed, soakin’ that shit up!

POP!

At the mansion two doors up, a pretty white woman screamed. She was holdin’ some grey-haired white man bleedin’ from the chest.

Seein’ us starin’, she yelled, “Help! He’s been shot!”

But then we checked some dude in black on the roof across the street jumpin’ to the next buildin’ and he sho’ nuff had himself a rifle bag.

“Please, help me!” The woman screamed.

Tikka yelled, “Which apartment!?”

“416. Penthouse. Hurry!”

Tikka pulled me ‘cross the street. Damn, this was the nicest house I done ever seen! The woman opened the doe, “Over here!”

I went to workin’ on the man and kept his woman’s attention. “Push here, hard as you can, and don’t stop!” She did as she was told and Tikka left to do what she had to do.

“Where’s yo’ phone?” I said.

She nodded to the terrace. I raced over to get it. “Passcode?!!”

“9-6-7-3-5”

In. I tapped 911 and hit the speaker.

“State your emergency.”

“I’ve a white male, mid-60’s, SGW to ‘da chest. Stable but needs medical attention now! 416 Grove.”

Tikka came back and the white woman gushed, “Thank you, both.”

EMS got to us but two minutes later. As soon as they did, woman sho’ nuff forgot we was even there.

Back on the street, the ambulance took off and me and Tikka got our hero props.

Our asses smiled all the way to Bleeker…then we put them fake smiles away.

I inserted comms. Four clicks and ops said,  “Report.”

Tikka unzipped her duffle. The documents were all there. I answered, “Team 2. Green. Assets acquired.” She zipped the bag and slapped me on the back. I popped out comms and we smiled all the way to the 1 train.
